The theme for this year’s Singapore HeritageFest 2012 is to Recollect, Reflect and Reconnect. Into its ninth year, The SHF 2012 decided to celebrate heritage at nine different heartland malls, bringing culture and history to people’s doorsteps.
The National Heritage Board and The Preservation of Monuments Board wanted to create an exhibition that showcases six selected Singapore National Monuments buildings, to tell the stories of the people involved in their construction and to allow people to reconnect with the rich architectural and cultural heritage, experienced through a highly interactive and engaging platform.
This project was exceptionally fun for us on many levels. Besides bringing out all the guns to create a highly customised interface, we had the great opportunity to collaborate with the event sponsors – LG Electronics – to create the world’s first 3D + 360 Interactive Panoramic Experience (yes that’s quite a mouthful befitting the cinematic experience) to showcase LG’s latest Cinema 3D Smart TV screens.
The results were mind (and eye) blowing and has by oneself! Due to the impressive results achieved with our panoramic tours, LG Electronics has agreed to work with Studio Mds as 3D Technology Partners. We will be generating more 3D content for them, and hope to bring LG’s proprietary 3D technology into our future projects. Stay tuned!
The exhibition received good press coverage on Channel News Asia, MediaCorp Channel 8 and Channel U. NHB has intentions to create panoramic tours for all 64 National Monuments in Singapore in the next few years. We look forward to bringing that to fruition.
